Description
Molossus warhounds were large, powerful dogs bred and utilized in ancient Greece, particularly by the Molossian tribe of Epirus. Renowned for their strength, courage, and loyalty, these dogs were primarily employed as war dogs, guard dogs, and hunting companions.
Their intimidating presence and ferocity made them valuable assets in military operations, often serving alongside soldiers to intimidate and attack enemies.
The Molossus breed is considered one of the ancestors of many modern large dog breeds, such as mastiffs and other working dogs, known for their similar traits of size, strength, and protective instincts.
